She was their full-time caretaker and their taker of life. Upon successful persuasion of her parent’s hospice team and very good friends, her book, “Watching My Parents Die”, came to be. It’s about her experiences during this time from living with her to the final moments of her mom passing away. She openly discusses her feelings including the physical challenges, the mental challenges, graphic details of physical changes during her parent’s transition, hospice, and MAID (also known as Death with Dignity). As life moved forward, Victoria became an End-of-Life Doula and keynote speaker. Her goal is now to reduce elder care abandonment by family members. Victoria’s focus is to help people understand the changes in communication, reasons for behavior changes, how to improve communication with other family members and how to successfully maneuver through the conflict that occurs with other family members, their dying loved one and (most importantly) the internal conflicts. Watching Your Parents Die isn’t just about parents; it’s about being there for someone you love, defining your own beliefs about suffering and death, and knowing you made a difference before your loved one has passed away.
