”Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.“ James 1:2-4 NLT
”Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.“ James 1:12 ESV
2. Your circle must understand the assignment and know their role otherwise you run the risk of distraction and ineffectiveness. Keeping watch in times of extreme commitment is required so that while your humanity comes into agreement with the spirit you are covered.
”Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”“ Matthew 26:38 NIV
”Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.“ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NIV
”A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.“ Proverbs 11:13 NIV
3. Being human means your soul will always be at constant war with the spirit. Staying focused means no matter what, conviction always trumps or overrides the conscious.
”Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”“ Matthew 26:39 NIV
”For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.“ Galatians 5:17 NIV
4. Sleeping on a job is a reason for termination. Because of this truth we must ensure we are focused to the point of removing comfortability and dependency in order to maintain the frequency to produce God’s reality.
”Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter.“ Matthew 26:40 NIV
”If you spend all your time sleeping, you’ll grow poor. So wake up, sleepyhead! Don’t sleep on the job. And then there will be plenty of food on your table.“ Proverbs 20:13 TPT
5. The spirit is wired to be faithful to the cause of God but the flesh or carnal nature of humanity is constantly at war with the things of God. Therefore, divine focus implies the capacity as well the capability to stay in tune and in touch with God’s agenda. The temptation isn’t necessarily sin, but everything that will lead to it and cause you to miss the mark canceling the assignment.
