Trans & Queer Healthcare with Delia Sosa: Living in a Post-Roe World
Manage episode 333065659 series 3011708
This week, Ashleigh and Katie are super excited to bring on a guest to help discuss the very nuanced topic of queer and transgender healthcare. Delia Sosas is a queer, transgender, nonbinary, mixed-race Latine activist, and medical student. They advocate for inclusion of transgender, gender diverse, and intersex people in medicine and medical education, and is an activist in the transgender community around access to gender-affirming and intersex-inclusive healthcare. Delia helps explain the complicated history of healthcare for marginalized groups, offers insight to life after the overturning of Roe v Wade, and shares their personal story of how they are able to blend a medical degree with activism. Still learning about the LGBTQIA+ community or unsure what most queer terminology means? Listen in for a crash course on the language and hear why Delia believes progress is a two way street.
