Welcome to another episode of the Dialed Health podcast where I’m joined by Kailey Skelton, who happens to be our current National Downhill Champion. I personally have a huge history in downhill racing, so chatting about downhill riding got me super stoked. Kailey is not only a rad rider, but she also uses Dialed Health programming for her strength training workouts and that's how we got connected. The conversation begins with us chatting about this huge road gap she hit out in Utah, which to be honest, you rarely see anyone do these types of gaps, let alone a woman. Super impressive. This led us to sharing a bunch of tips on hitting gaps and tabletops, which can also be appleid to any type of jump you’re hitting. Then we dive into Kailey's riding, how she accelerated so quickly (only riding for less than 2 years), her training on and off the bike, what PSI she recommends for downhill riding, her favorite bike park, her go-to trail snacks, and a bunch of cool golden nuggets you don’t want to miss. At the end of the episode, we dive into Weekly Thoughts with Derek where I chat more about my New Years day Everest. I break down the things that didn’t go right and how I made it through mentally because it was the most mentally tough day I’ve ever had on my bike. And lastly, we get into listener questions where I answer “Should you weigh food before or after it’s cooked” 05:00 - Kailey's hot tips for hitting tabletops and gaps 18:00 - How Kailey picked up momentum quickly once entering into downhill riding 22:00 - Recommend PSI for downhill riding 28:00 - Winning National Champions 35:00 - Inside look into Kailee’s Riding 1:08 - Listener questions 1:20 - Weekly Thoughts With Derek 1:30 - AnnouncementsGet more content from me daily by following me on the ‘gram: @dialedhealth.
