She discusses her experience immigrating to the U.S. in 1982 and how she learned to discern the difference between the "Black Experience" and the "Black immigrant experience". She also dives into the challenges that Black immigrant parents face raising their children and how the disconnect between both generations can be very damaging to the youth if uncomfortable conversations aren't held not just between parents and children, but also with themselves.
