In the final instalment of our special Irish Film Institute Documentary Festival podcasts. Paul Butler Lennox and our brand new host Georgina McKevitt spoke to the wonderful documentary director Alex Fegan.
A massive welcome to Georgina to the team!!!!
Alex has made some of the more commercially successful and engaging Feature Documentaries of recent years, Mostly off his own bat. More often than not a one-man shooting band, But Alex's real skill is making his subjects relax on camera and allows them to just be themselves and there's nothing more fascinating than people watching.
Alex is a brilliant example of someone following their calling a little later in life, leaving a successful career in Law. His work thus far Includes the hugely popular "Older than Ireland", The Irish Pub, both of which screened all over the USA and Europe, Picking up a hat full of awards. Most recently mhe directed and produced Abbeyfeale Good for RTE and The Irish Wedding, which screened as part of the IFI Documentry Festival 2021 and will screen on RTE later this year.
Alex's down to earth good nature and communication skills are evident in his work and their massive reach worldwide. Testament to his hard work and original, singular ideas.
