Joe Bates is a member of the Bad River Band, a Native American Tribe residing along Lake Superior in Wisconsin. He and his community have been embroiled in a long-standing legal and public relations battle against Enbridge, a Canadian energy company, to protect their ancestral lands. This struggle has been documented in "Bad River," a documentary film released in early 2024, which showcases Bates and his fellow activists within the band. Joe joins Jay to share his personal journey of activism, the profound influence of past generations of tribal and environmental activists on his own path, and the ongoing fight against Enbridge, which affects the future of water protection in America. On this week’s episode of the Pure Uncut Recovery Podcast, we are hearing from Mollie Swanton Mollie’s story is one of drive and determination to overcome the struggle. Her journey begins in New York City, growing up privileged as an only child and living on the 28th floor of a fancy Highrise in Manhattan on the upper Eastside. She recalls one of her earliest memories feeling incredibly alone at 5 years old and wishing she could be anywhere else as she learned to survive the madness, walking on eggshells, while on the surface everything appeared to be fine. Mollie goes on to describe sugar as her first addiction and is bullied for her weight, causing her to be filled with anger and hate and is eventually introduced to drugs and alcohol at the age of 13, paving the way to countless overdoses and high-priced treatment centers in Florida and California. She learns that her father has passed away and left her a large sum of money. After blowing through most of her inheritance, she returns to yet another Florida treatment center and loses a close friend to an overdose, inspiring Mollie to gain momentum in her recovery, finding employment in a treatment and is now becoming a positive member of society… Contact Info: smollis55@gmail.com 941.932.1341 Books: The Language of Letting Go By: Melody Beattie https://www.amazon.com/Language-Letting-Journal-Meditation-Reflection/dp/1568389841/ref=sr_1_4?crid=UJY0BK35HQ3O&keywords=the+language+of+letting+go&qid=1653957520&sprefix=the+langua%2Caps%2C123&sr=8-4 Think Like a Monk By: Jay Shetty https://www.amazon.com/Think-Like-Monk-Train-Purpose/dp/1982134488/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1ZDZPNLR2QB78&keywords=think+like+a+monk&qid=1653957578&sprefix=think+li%2Caps%2C113&sr=8-1 Songs: Paradise By: Coldplay https://open.spotify.com/artist/4gzpq5DPGxSnKTe4SA8HAU?si=EelDucNRRhCsQpx5D0rn6A Don't Let Me Down By: The Chainsmokers https://open.spotify.com/track/1i1fxkWeaMmKEB4T7zqbzK?si=69a6e9761c004755…

On this week’s episode of the Pure Uncut Recovery Podcast, we are hearing from the one and only…LeVardis Williams! LeVardis’ story is very inspiring, motivating, and extremely relatable - his journey begins in Nashville, TN, growing up as a happy, normal kid living in his grandparents' home for the first eight years of his life, until a bitter turn of events between his mother and grandparents forces LeVardis and his mom to venture out on their own, causing him to question relationships and how someone you truly love can suddenly turn their back on you. LeVardis goes on to describe his desire to gain acceptance, as he begins to hang out with drug selling clicks and snorts cocaine (or as he puts it... BUGGA SUGGA) for the first time, off the long pinky fingernail of an acquaintance. His pursuit of that very 1st high took him through a 24-year revolving door, experiencing years of incarceration and periods of homelessness, until the day he reaches out for help, and is accepted to Greenhouse Treatment Center in Grand Prairie, Texas. His recovery has not been all sunshine and rainbows; however, his dreams are gradually coming true…Here’s LeVardis Williams levardiswilliams@gmail.com https://oxfordhouse.og/userfiles/file/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/1121050058704331…
