Not because you needed to per se, but because you were up for some change. You were looking to grow. Oftentimes, our sense of discontentment with the people, places, things and situations in our life is masking our desire for growth. We want to feel different, and we want to do differently. But rather than address the fact that we are ourselves firmly rooted in our comfort zones, we project this discontentment onto the people around us 🙂↕️ It's not them, it's you. You want to grow, and maybe haven't found the words to properly capture that need 👀 👀 You don't need to wait for something to happen, just make a point to step outside of your comfort zone, Often the change you are requesting of others is a signal to the change you desire of yourself. We can expect what people expect of us, because we're all equally proficient at enforcing and imposing these social norms on others. Oftentimes without thinking about why think the way we think, about the boxes we fit ourselves and others in. Attention is Finite. Before Calling it ADHD How Much Energy Are You Expending Trying to be Engaged? Paying attention takes energy. Paying attention when the content isn't engaging, and the environment also requires you to self-regulate by sitting still and staying quiet is all the more challenging. Why? Because focus is a finite resource. We can keep the muscle flexed for long before it needs to take a break. The same with attention. Attention without engagement burns through a lot of the resources that we have at our disposal to stay focused and to learn. Many individuals are quick to criticize when there are some who struggle to pay attention, failing to recognize that they've tapped out on focus and self-regulation, because those burn out quickly when not super-fuelled by being engaged. Video games are engaging - and people can't get enough of it. Rather than self-identify as having ADHD why not find out what makes content or learning engaging for you, as an initial first step.
